How Accurate is SleepScore Technology?
In today’s world of technological everything, it seems like there’s quite literally an ‚app‘ for anything you want to accomplish. Sleep health is no exception. The rise of sleep trackers, sleep assistants, and sleep products, in general, have skyrocketed in the last few years. It can be hard to wade through all the noise to determine what’s a genuinely good product, and what’s simply blowing smoke. Accuracy is one of the biggest differentiators when it comes to sleep tracking. What makes SleepScore so accurate? For SleepScore Labs, our technology has been a long time coming.
Where does SleepScore technology come from?
SleepScore is powered by patented ResMed technology and has been in development and production for over 12 years. ResMed has been a leader in the sleep health arena since their formation in 1989. Their successful commercialization of the CPAP device has helped millions of people treat sleep apnea. Since then, they’ve been hard at work building better sleep solutions for the entire world.
SleepScore uses ResMed’s patented technology to accurately track sleep. Our app utilizes sonar sensor technology as a way to measure your breathing rate and body movement to accurately determine your path through the sleep stages. It’s called echolocation – similar to what bats use for nighttime navigation. The accuracy of SleepScore’s tracking abilities is backed by years of science and research. SleepScore is based on the same best in-class algorithms that SleepScore Max uses, which have been validated against Polysomnography (PSG) and Actigraphy, the two clinically accepted standards of measuring sleep, with these results published in over 10 scientific peer-reviewed papers. The algorithms have been developed over 12 years with over 6 million nights of data.
What makes SleepScore different from other trackers?
There are a lot of other sleep tracking apps out there that claim to produce an accurate picture of your sleep. Most apps use accelerometer technology (think FitBit or other smartwatches) or your smartphone’s microphone alone to measure your sleep. The problem with these methods is they can only detect movement, and often do so inaccurately. SleepScore, on the other hand, assesses both movement and breathing rate to get the most complete picture of your sleep.
Yep, it’s true. Not only is the app sending sonar signals to sense your body movement; it also captures your breathing rate. Our advanced algorithm interprets both of these signals and deciphers your journey through every sleep stage at night.
This also means there’s no need for stand-alone hardware like a mattress strip or an expensive, wearable fitness tracker. Simply place your smartphone on your bedside table to start tracking (no watches, no bands, nothing to wear but your favorite jammies to bed)!
Your journey to better sleep starts tonight! What’s your SleepScore?
